Creative and talented Virginians can now enter this year’s State Fair of Virginia competitions. Guidelines for more than 1,200 categories are posted on the fair’s website at StateFairVa.org.
The average American is three generations removed from the farm, and that’s creating a problem on Virginia’s roadways.
The State Fair of Virginia will hold its weigh-in for giant pumpkins and giant watermelons at noon on Sept. 24. The weigh-in is the culmination of labor-intensive gardening that earns bragging rights and blue ribbons for top competitors.
Trading cards, which feature farmers instead of baseball players, will make their debut at the State Fair of Virginia Sept. 23 to Oct. 2.
The World’s Largest Horseshoe, certified by the Guinness Book of World Records, is coming to the State Fair of Virginia at The Meadow Event Parkin Caroline County.
